Miami, (October 17, 2019) – Commissioner Jean Monestime & the NW 7th Avenue CRA present The 3rd Annual Uptown Avenue 7 Arts & Culture Festival on Saturday, November 9th from 11AM – 7 PM at the Arcola Lakes Library Plaza located at 8240 NW 7th Ave, Miami, FL 33150. With support from Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and Arcola Lakes Public Library, this free festival comes alive at the intersection of culture and commerce and includes: Headliner Howard Hewett, MUCE Pop up art exhibit, live musical performances, parade of cultures,  Lunch & Learn with the CRA, Uptown Job Fair, vendors showcase, intimate chats with Northside Police, kid zone, prizes and more. All activities are free to public. Food available for purchase. Patrons are encouraged to rsvp for exclusive offers & prizes. RSVP here.

Musical icon, Howard Hewett, rose to fame as the lead vocalist for Grammy award-winning R&B/Soul  group Shalamar. With a career that spans more than 40 years, Hewett is bringing his vocal magic to this free community event. Attendees can also satiate their palettes with cultural cuisine from heritage food trucks like Roots ‘n Seeds Cantina with Chef Fernando Gomez, Caribbean Bites and Delights, and Latin Fixin’s (specializing in American-Peruvian cuisine). Attendees are also encouraged to shop local for the holidays in the Uptown Vendor Village with 23 heritage vendors featuring some of South Florida’s best crafters and artisans. Patrons who RSVP can win big with Uptown Heritage Dollars that provide discounts on selected vendor items. The festival is a part of the NW 7th Avenue CRA’s mission to reimagine the Corridor as the next destination to work, shop, and play. “This annual celebration will put Northwest 7th Avenue on the map as a vibrant cultural and commercial corridor, and I’m proud to be a part of it,” states Commissioner Monestime.

 All activities are free, some are limited capacity and require rsvp which include:

Dinner & Conversation with North Side Police: Patrons can get to know their local officers, initiatives on safety and how they can support the efforts to make safer neighborhoods. Family Yoga: Get the entire family moving. Mats provided, bring water and shake the chakras in the CRA Lounge and Kid Zone. $50K Lunch & Learn with NW 7th Avenue CRA: For registered businesses only. Limited to 20. Get to know more about what the CRA has to offer for new and established businesses looking for a new place to call home. Capital Improvement grants, land acquisition, and support with business development are all possible. “We are committed to ensuring that our local neighborhoods and new residents alike have the opportunity to get to know each other, the businesses, and the artisans who make the corridor thrive,” states Dr. Mae Bryant, Chair of the NW 7th Avenue CRA. Job -seekers are encouraged to attend the Uptown Job Fair during the festival.
